The .conference o£ delegates of, the Trades' and Labour Councils in New Zealand that was.to.have been opened at Auckland on Tuesday next has' been' postponed to a date which will probably be fixed within a week of the opening of Parliament. This course was decided upon by a majority of five to two of the Labour councils-owing to'the fact ' that the last conference at Wellington was held as recently as October, 1900. The postponement-will,; it is thought, ■ assist the organising work of'Mr..-IX: M'Laren, MJP., and. allow time for *.- decision, by various unions upon , the question of joining the. New Zealand - federation of Labour, HELENSVILLE HOT SPRINGS'. The thermaKattractibns of Auckland have been added to ; by the opening at Helensville of a fine'new bath-houso at the- hot' springs situated at Parakai, v about a mile from Helensville South, railway station. These .springs were., known and used by the Maoris,- and ■ later by the early settlers thirty years ago. There was a pump and a primitive bath, hut it-was not until five' years ago that a grant was; made for giving better accommodation. The building put up was a,modest,one,.and has long been too small, and;last year the Helensville Domain Board, which administers the 38-aore reserve .on which the springs are -situated, secured a grant of £800 with which they have put up a fine swimming bath some 40ft. - by 25ft., and added sis to the number of private baths.
