Tho Federal authorities of Canada are prosecuting.'the" ownere-and operators of numerous western elevators on charges of making fraudulent returns and improperly blending superior and inferior" grades of grain for foreign markets. ■■• A RECENT DEPUTATION. A deputation representing tho Manitoba Grain-growers' Association, the Dominion Millers' Association, and the Dominion Grange waited on the Minister of Trade and Commerce on January 28 to urge the request made last year: that the Government should take over I ■the control and 'ownership of the terminal grain elevators at Fort William and .Port- 'Arthur..-The. deputation urged that Government ownership and control of terminal elevators would bo a guarantee to-the farmers, and the milling industry against tho mixing of grains, errors hi weight, and any other species of fraud that might come from private ownership. It was also pointed out that the Governments of the Prairie Provinces aro now-agreed on the advisability of Government control and ownership of the inteirior elevators. Sir Richard Cartwright said the ' recommendations of tho deputation,' with which ho in the main agreed, would receive full consideration by the Government. ' '■;
