ALL-RED ROUTE.
UNDER CONSIDERATION. By Telesiaph-Prosa Aesociation-OoDjrlslifc (Rec. March 23, 9.30 p.m.) London, March 23. Replying to Mr. A. Fell, in the House of Commons, Colonel Seely, Undersecretary for the Colonies, stated that tho All-Red Route question was under consideration, but he was unable to say when a decision would be reached. THE PROPOSAL OUTLINED. . The object of tho "All Bed Eoute" is to secure a fast mail and passenger semee from tho United Kingdom via Oanada to Australia and New Zealand. Mr. Asquith has stated that the committee inquiring into' this matter "have not succeeded in removing the many difficulties by which tho scheme is attended. At the samo time there is no j reason to assnmo that these difficulties will prove insuperable." is unwilling to pay any share of the subsidising of the Canadian railway, but is willing to' subsidise a line of steamers from Canada to Australia. ■ . . :; ■■■.'■■ ■•'.. ■:■.: ....■
Neither the Canadian Pacific Railway nor the Canadian Northern Railway runs entirely on "All Bed" territory, out the Grand Trunk Railway, when it is completed, will do so. "Canada" says that it is an almost level railroad from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and \will be able to haul heavier freight trains at a greater speed and a muchless ccat than any other railway.' : •• Prince Rupert, the terminal seaport of the Grami IVunk Pacific is a very , fine harbour,, and it is suggested that the new fast, service of boats for Australia will run from Prince Rupert to Sydney.
