Mb annual draft of Mr. J. M'Leod's "Whakapuni" ewes came under the.hammer in. splendid order, and condition. Tils Eomney flock is a, well-known one throughout the district, the quality.of the wool and constitution of the. sheep .being-excellent..; This annual draft iB always keenly inquired for, and when the sale-started with the. two-tooth ewes buyers quickly settled down to work, and the first pen of 152 found a new owner' at 150-sd. sd. The four-year ewes coming from the c-.mo flock brought i4a. V'd.,. and the fiveyear. ewes,. Us. .lid. Tie cwei oilaivd on :wcoont of.Messrs. M. and P. ll'Lood (bred up from the Whakapuni flock) were also a firot-class lot, and a record price for four-year ewes this season was obtained for'their line. After keen competition tho owes wore disposed of at the satisfactory figure of 17s. 3d.; five-year-old owes on account of the same wendors. brought 12s. 2d. to ■ 12s.' Bd. We also had some good owes-from Mr. J. D. M'Doueall, of Pjrinoa, which sold as follow :-Four-toot!i to f.f.m., 12s. 6d. to 12s. Sd.; two-tooths, at 13a. ' Tho. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report:—At Poilding on Friday we held our annual sheep fnir, when we yarded 8000 sheep of all classes. Owing, no doubt, to the. wished-for rain, tho market had a hearty tone, and good prices prevailed throughout, excepting for .aged! or-'inferior-quality ewes. We were successful in placing almost the whole of our entry at the following prices :—Two and" three-year Itomney ewo3, Ms.; f.m. ltomney owes. 12s; to 14s. 6d.; two-tooth ewes, 12s. 6d., 123. lid., 14a., 14s. 6d., 155., to 15s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report :-Our annual sheep fair, held at Feuding on February 25-\v> had a large yarding, and buyers were present from all parts of the North Island. On recent rates the fair was considerably in advanco in prices, and we cleared practically all our yarding. -Wo quote: Fat ewes, 10s. 9d., lis., to lis. Gd.; two-tooth. ewes, small, 9s. 10d., 10s., to 10s. 6d.; f.m. ewes, Bs. 6d., 95., 9s. Id., 9s. 6d:, 9s. 10d., to 10a. 9d.; old ewes, ss. 7d., 65., 7s. Mr. Harry Palmer's market report: Only a moderate entry of-,pigs came forward. Prices are not yet sufficiently high to induce anything like brisk speculation, although the general tone- of the market indicates brighter prospects. There was. a moderato entry of poultry of excellent quality, and prices were on a par with last week's-. quotations. Pullets are now in good demand, and wo have difficulty in filling orders. Good business has been dono with produce. The market is getting free of inferior lines of potatoes, and prices for good prime y samples are'firming, 'lhere is a good demand for onions; the first big consignment of local-grown ones was put through to-day, and sold at a fraction over . Id.-per lb. Fruit supplies arc now coming; forward in lesser quantities, and the general glut is over.- Localgrown fruits are now practically confined to peaches, pears, apples, and quinces, the last of our known Bupply of plums being 6 ? ■ Tomatoes have improved slightly both in quality and price, and are ton at;ld. to'ljd. per lb.
