George), 'who suggested that the Primo Minister be asked to introduce a provision if possible whereby students attending technical and continuation classes for'three evenings a week would be exempted from .attending night drill. -Ho thoroughly approved of compulsory, military training, but, in the cases of lads working all day and attending classes at 'night, he thought that the additional,, strain of having to take part-in- night drill .would bo too'much. The chairman, (Mr.- Parr) expressed the ; opinion that military training for the defence :of the country stood' before. technical instruction, but that the Executive might bo asked to consider tho matter. They must not do anything, however, which might prejudice, tho chances of the Bill from going through the House. ■..'.:•:■..,.-.■ Mr. Edgccumbe said that he would like to see no ono exempted. Quakers and other folk Who did ,'not like to conform with tho conditions could clear, out of the country. This sentiment was the pervading one, .but Mr. George's ; suggestion . was .- referred to the Executive.
