On the Palinerston Bowling Green yesterday there was a good muster of players, and several • interesting . games took place, Tho. chief interest, however, centred in the match for the Dixon.Cup, a Feilding rink—Bartholomew,' Manning, Stewart, and. Say well (s.)—having travelled down to battle for this trophy with the local holders, H. Mowlcm, A. Pickering, Malcolm, and.Tasker (s.). After a finelycontested game, the visitors succeeded in beating their opponents by-19 points to 14. For the Tasker feathers, J. A. Nash and Haydon, who have held the trophies through about a dozen successive games, ; were defeated by H. Nash and Russell by 19 to 17. A rink, skipped by F. Mowlem, will journey to Feilding on Saturday, to try conclusions with the present holders of tho Dixon Cup. The cricket pitches on the sports ground were exceedingly hard and lively for the championship matches.. In the High School v. Phoenix B game, the former'batted first, and put up 139 (Reischer 44, Young 21, Bennett 20, Eglinton 11), five of-the-team retiring.-Phoenix B made a very poor;.'shoeing; against the bowling of Fitt and Bennett, the'Sist Innings producing only ii and the second; 42 (Kinnear not out 21, Abbott 11 and 11, Ifeslakc 11). In the game between City and Phoenix A, tho scoring was very poor; the forn'jer notching only 62 aud 49, M'Leavey' (29) being tho only one to mako a stand. Phoenix A scored 37 in tho first'innings, and had lost one. wicket for 17 in their second venture. •A "social" was held in the Foresters'- Hall last' night in aid of tho funds for All Saints' Children's Home. There was a large attendance.
