The opening aale\ of wool for tho Auckland diatriot for the present season takes place at the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, and it is expected •, to last, the whole day, as the quantity catalogued is about 50 per cent, more than- at the commencement of last year. Farmers have acted wiseb in sending in their wool promptly, in order to .take advantage of the buoyant state of the market, and there Eeems to- be every probability, that'the prices obtained at the Ohristchurch sales will also be got in Auckland. - ■ ■ ■■ • • •',-■ •Altogether, Bomcthing'like 7CM .bales-have'.bce.n-catalogued*for' thoifi-st sale, and-,more-wool is still' being sorit.,in'.:profitins I by-.past l-experi-ence the growers,have sent in the wool in:much better . condition. this'• season,' "cdtted" and "dingy" being sent' in separately in sacks, so as not to brine down tho average of the wool in tho bales. It will bo remembered that, last season; there were some very bitter complaints regarding. the condition in which 66me o£ ; tho. wool was sent in, but buyers. this year speak in high terms of the quality, as being cleaner and fighter. '■■~■ A number of buyers have come up from, the southland ono gentleman who Eot in the_same carriage with some of them on the Main Trunk train said that it seemed to him as.if he,had got back'to Yorkshire. : American-and German buyers are also in town; so that there should bo ■ fair competition for the wool offered, ...? .One leading broker, .when referring .to ■ the chances of the sale to a representative of-the "Star" this moraine, said:; "It "looks all\ right, . providing only that, the growers do not lose their heads, and put too big reservesjon. - They ' have done that before, when/there were good prices offering, with the result that they missed Are and had to tako.lower .figures later on.
