Witness said ho would not advise'any further reduction ( in tho price of'press cablegrams. It would mean increased bueiuess, but would only put more money into the newspaper proprietors' 'pockets. If the public were to benefit by 'such a i eduction, he would advise it.
The Paeiflc Cable Board should, he thought, hare a cable across the Atlantic. He was of Opinion that the Commonwealth should identify itself more closely with the Pacific cable, Hβ would not euggeet an alteration of the prose rate on tho land linos,, afl the country was losing by the present rate. The Committee line obtained leave to sit in Sydney, whe,r4 it wishes to examine at least font witnesses. It, will •be more economical fof the Committee to visit Sydney than to bring tho' witness to Melbourne.
