Compensation' Court gave judgment yes-', terday "afternoon, in the case Wellington -Woollen Manufacturing Company," Ltd., versus the Railway: Department.' The company claimed ■ "X 3399 .compensation. foreland,' adjoining their mill at Pewne, which had been taken by the Government in connection with the Hntt roil.way works. The'case was heard by his Honour Mr. p Justice-Sim and two assessors, Mr. G. Hj Scales, for the claimants, and Mr. A. H. Miles - for: the Department. Mr. M. Chapman, K.C., and Mr. S. A. Atkinson appeared for claimants, and Mr. M. Myers for 'the Railway . Department. ■ ■■■;• ' ,The unanimous decision ,of the Court was that the Deportment should take steps at their , .own .expense. to have re-vested in the company . the land agreed to be restored. The Depart-, ment should also pay to the claimants the sum of - satisfaction of their claim for compensation imrespect tp ; the balance of the land taken,;'and'in respect-to the larid injuriously-affected."-No order would be'made for costs, but the respective parties would be called upon to-pay the assessors', costs, fifteen guineas each.
