The principal-obstacle in the way.of progress 60.far has been the.-delay in. the receiving .-Of the poles from Australia. A sufficient number of poles have,come to hand, however, ! to .enable the.works .tb.be, carried.'on at a fobly'satisfactory'rate. ,'_ ' Work' in' the Elbirnie : district is practically oompleted, all the'poles and wiring having been erected.. All that now remains to bo done is the fixing of the brackets, which ; will. only be the work'of a few days.- 'The brackets have-not yet left -the hands of the contractors. , Work is well ahead in the Brooklyn district, imor'e than half of the extension there, having been' completed.' . -.
