Burt, and working at the installing of electric light, received a bad shock. He did not know the current had been turned, on, and seized ouo of the wires, at the same t'me clutching an iron pipe. This oomplotcd 'ho circuit,-and tho lad recoivod a shock from the alternating current of 230 volts. Ho was unable to reieaso himself; and wlien , Mr. Reynolds (electrician) answered his.cries and *ot tho current switched of! and'the boy free, his hands were frightfully burnt'ana his face badly cut through contact with die floor, induced , by, the agony he suffered. He had sustained, the shock . for nearly , two minutes'; and a few seconds morei would probably'have meant death. FOUND DEAD? ' ' Carterton, September 9. A young man named Earl M'Master; son of the late Mr. D. M'Master, was found dead in an r avenue loading to the homestead on Tiihitarata station. When a boy he had a fall from a horse and fractured his skull. A year ago he wont to "England ;to" undergo an operation on tho brain. It is thought lie had a fatal relapse of the old complaint. He was 23 j years of age. WASHED OFF HIS HORSE.. Glsborne,'September^. A _ Maori, aged twenty'-ono, known as "Smiler,"' was drowned whilst crossing the Waikohu River this morning. He was washed off his. horse and carried aown-stream, and has not-been, seen since. "BEEN TAKING CHLORxVL HYDRATE." Rotorua, September 9. . A painfully sudden'death occurred this morning, the wife of Mr. 11. L. Biggs being found dead in bcd.v Deceased had been, und«r medical treatment, 1 and had been taking chloral, hydrato and bromide tabloids. It is supposed that she' exceeded the dose. A wharf labourer, named Montague Ernest Nolan, a resident of Brooklyn, fell from so'mo casing in, one of. the v wharf .'.sheds yesterday, and suffered .a slight concussion of the brain. Ho was attended by Dr. Pollen, and - subsequently removed to tho hospital.
