Lady Douglaa was" tho sister of the Rev. W. Foster, who keeps a famous school, for tho preparation of boys for the Navy and Army at Farcham. [■■ Sir A. P.' liouglaSi' ; Bart., whom .sho'married- in 1871, was-formerly Under-' Secretary for Defence under theSeddon Government. Hoiwas a gunnery-lieutenant in the Royal; Navy, and retired with the rank of commandor. On retiring ho camo to New Zealand and farmed for some years on the 'Manchester' Block, not far. from Halcombe.. ,Of. thoir, two surviving .daughters, '.ononis Mrs. H. H. Bridgo, and the other tho wife of Lieut. Popham, of H.M.S. New Zealand.
