Messrs. Dalgoty and Company, Ltd., had a good yarding of sheep at their Pahiatua sale yesterday, the hogget market showing> an improvement. ' Quotations:—Ewe ■ hoggets, 12s. 2d. to 12s. 3d.; wether;hoggets, 9a. 9d. to 9s. lid.;,owes with lambs at foot, 13s. to 15s. 3d.; fat wethers, 15s. 7d.j yearling steers, £2 155.; mixed yearlings, £2 6s. • 6d.; empty heifers, £2 155.; dairy cows, £3 2s. 6d.'to £4 55.; springing heifers, £5 ss. to £5 17s. 6d.. Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Company's stock report for tho week is as follows :-On Tuesday, v August 30, wo had a horse sale at Waverloy, when we submitted" over 160 horses of all classes. The attendance was good, and we Bold the greater portion of tho entry. Good unbroken draughts were well competed for. Wo report a good sale. On. Wednesday, September 1, at our Wanganul stock sale, wo.had a fair yarding, viz.., 440 cattle; 1360 Gheep, aud 164 pigs. Tho attendance was not so large as usual, no doubt owing to the rough weather. ■ However, bidding was good for most lines of cattle offered, and the bulk sold at satisfactory values. Bidding for sheep was slow at auction, several pens' being passed, however, most ..lines were 'quitted, after tho sale.' Fat sheep cold well, 'tigs maintained late values. At Wavorley saio on September 3, 'we yarded 250' cattle, 550 sheep, and 50 pigs, besides' sundries. The attendance'was good, and most,of tho cattle were sold at ruling. rates. Good springing hoifors close to calving sold readily. All the sheep yarded were sold. Pig 3 made good values. Dalgety and Company, Limited; report having received the following cable message from their London house, under date of September 6:—"Wool: Market very firm and tending upwards. At the fifth (September) series- of sales. in London, we expect a general rise in prices of from par to 5 per cent."
