James Arthur, convicted last week on a charge of conspiring to defraud by means of the throecard'trick, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment. • ..■'''.. ■ ' Auckland, August 23. Frederick Wilkins,of Owhatu, was to-day sentenced to three years' imprisonment for arson, having pleaded guilty in the Lower Court. Ho stated that ho' had admitted the crimes to endeavour to. shelter another man," who was acquitted on a charge of arson last week.
