1 ANNUAL MEETING. The .annual report of the . Hillsborough Cooperative Dairy : Company,/ submitted at the recent annual meeting, stated\ that -during tho year' 1,812,2831b. of milk had beon received, 'and 84,3131b'. of butter' made, being an increase of 370,3031b.' of; milk and 89961b. of butter on the . figures of . the previous year. It took an average of 21.491b. of milk to make :a'pound of: butter. 'The overrun was 13.56 per .ceut.,:~and. the average .test 4.09. ' After, writing off tho balanco of 1 £30 on th'e goodwill /account,: £24 for churn i and butterworkor: replaced by a. combined churii and worker, and £49 18s. for depreciation; the profit and loss account showed a credit balance of £280 12s. Bd. The directors recommended , 5 per cent, dividend on the amount, paid up by. shareholders, and a bonus, of four-fifths-' of a .penny, per lb. of butter-fat supplied.- I Tlio: . Vbalance-sheet showed' receipts from butter sales, £3826' 16s.' 3d. Tho sum of £3048 10s. 6d. was paid.out to suppliers. r . ! In moving the adoption of the'report and balance-sheet at the annual meeting, Mr. H; C. Sampson, chairmarivof< directors, strongly emphasised, the importance of improving the avoragb yields of dairy. cows. Tne, first essential, to his mind, was an abundance l of : nutritions, food. Next in importance was the securing ■ of. a,' good bull- from a wellknown butter-fat-p'roducing strain. It was essential also to go in. for individual testing, and to cull out all cows below a paying standard., Of course, the quantity, or milk would have to be taken into consideration as well as the test'. '
. ■ The, shareholders proceeded I ,to discuss the advisableness of the 'company"purchasing'' a bull to be placed at the' service of the. shareholders, but no .decision was arrivecl at;' i The chairman, stated that the company's j payident: for butter-fat last year was just under lOJdl per pound. .Messrs.
