COURSING.
HUTT VALLEY, CLUB'S MEETING. The Hutt Vailey Coursing Club's Wellington Cup meeting,- under the auspices of the New Zealand Coursing Association, was commenced at Trentham yesterday., ; There was a fair-at-tendance of followers. ■ The ."officials were as follow:—President, Mr. J. E. Fitzgerald; judge, Mr. W.'DoWling;/slipper, Mr. A: Adams; slip and identification steward, Mr. T. Burke; committee, Messrs. J. Prestidge, 'P. Prestidge,' J. Childs, H. Evans, ,W.- Leetham, A. Baylis, and J. Williamson; treasurer, Mr.. & Gougli; sec .retary, .Mr. T. Tjree... The , weather was perfecti'and the outing was very successful. Tho coursing was Considered much superior to that shown at the Easter meeting, the'hounds being of a better class. : The hares ran very well, only 'a moderate number being killed; In this connection, -it, has;.been suggested . that '■ there' Would bo fewer kills if ft, brush feiice'were erected about ten feet in front of the escapes tB baulk the :dogs.. The slljppibg hnd judging met ' with general 'approbation. .-The visitors to the gathering 'will be entertained at n smoke concert to-flight at the Tronthain Hotel, when ' .the-Cup and ribbons, will bq presented to the. successful owners. ; To tho . energetic secretary, Mr. Tyree, and the Mr. Fitzgerald,are due the thanks of the,'visitors for the completeness of the arrangements;.
