-.WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. On account of thejrain whjch fell yesterdaj morning,- hockey' matches, which were to be played at the Basin Reserve and Kelburne Park, were played at Miramar. . C:-\ AETIXLERY A (2) V. Y.M.C.A, (l>. Artillery A met. Y.M.C.A.' at Miramar on a slippery ground, but the play nevertheless wae very fast. The Artillery forwards took play into Y.M.C.A.'s quarter from the beginning, and, after about 15 minutes tackling, the ball waa shot to James (Artillery) on the wing from halfway. He made a dash up the line, and, dodging past Y.M.C.A.'s half, succeeded in notching , a goal. ; A few. minutes before half;time Perry (Y.M.C.A.) evened the Korea from a soramble inside the circle. After changing ends Artillery began to show up in. some fine rushes, and after some stiff playing James got away on the line, and succeeded in scoring. There was no further scoring during the game, which ended.as follows:—Artillery, 2; Y.M.C.A, i. Mr. Cusack controlled the ganie, ■"■ ■ ■•-• '■ HUI MAI A (3) V. KAEORI (2), On a ground where a searchlight was almost necessary to find the ball, Karon were defeated by Hui Mai k.. The game was quiet as fat as players were concerned, but the spectators were very angry over. a Karori: player being ordered off, and they behaved in a very unbecoming manner 'to the man with the; whistle. Whether the player, who was warned for roughness'just prior to the incident, slipped oh or purposely obstructed his opponent, Iβ a matter of. opinion, and it is probable that the association will, deal with the case.. As fal as hockey went, all science was out of the nuestion, and, after a; mud scramble, the. first spell ended.'■ with the scores:—Hur ■ Mai, 2; Karo'ri, nil-Garvea being the scorer in .both cases/The second spell saw Karori pilot the ball through the slueh, ' Picot, finding .the goal. ■ Hoy is credited withHui Mai'e third goal, which was hot all well received by those on the linej Karori, getting into their stride carried the ball to the circle, where a ".centre from the left-half gave Spiere I the - chance."'• 3-2/ -Hui- Mai Were W r O n' ; the Vdefensive,, but good .shooting was , -impossible,,' and failed to ! score again. The game thus onded:—Hui Mai, 3; Karori, 2.' Mr. Carver'was reforee. PETONE A (8) V. ,HUI MAI B (i). The match between Petone A and Hui Mai B, plaved at Petone on a very heavy ground, resulted in big scoring being done by the local team. Petone had much the better of i/tho game'during the first half, putting on five goals, while Hui Mai only succeeded in scoring one. Hui Mai played two men short during the game. Petone put on three more goals in the second term, bttt Hm Mai failed to increase their score. The beet pJayers for the winners were Poodey, the M*Ewan brothers, Packhard, Dolling, and M'Dowell For the losers, Smith, Brace, Martin, and Lepperd played well. Mr. Henshaw waa refereo. Post and Telegraph won from Artillery B by default. ' . Pake'ha won from Petone B by default. \ LADIES' ASSOCIATION FIXTURES.
