A Bill has been introduced in the Bengal Legislature giving tho police greater control over meetings and processions. \ The Bill prohibits the carrying of offensive weapons, and the exhibition of corpses or effigies (as in tho case of executed murderers, whoso corpses or effigies have been paraded in public, to do them honour).

Cries or harangues calculated to create , strife are made punishable, and tho Bill provides for tho arrest, without warrant, of persons guilty of certain specified oifences.
