"DELICHTFULLY INDEFINITE."
Sir,—The paragraph in.to-day's Dominion ■ under ..the abovelieading re the Hutt River Board's* meeting' having lapsed for .want...'of a quorum last night, is misleading . a double sense.. Your reporter says that there is "clearly something wrong in the arrangnients of the-.meetings," and' censures-the clerk,-by .implication, .-'for;-' not? "advising" attending members and-officials when there cannot bo a : ineotirig. : Let me explain that all Rfyer Boards consist of five members, all of whom are notified three days before meeting nights, which: are held once\a month. The Hutt River Board has ono member, Mr. T. A. Peterkin, • on a four : months' leavo.of absence in Queensland;on account: of' illhealth, ' Mr. Orton ■ Stevens seat me an apology on Monday last when he left for Auckland on urgent .business, and after wo met last night' Mr.'; Peters sent an.'.apology on. the plea of; Sickness. Thero tnen':''remajtied/Air. Sladdeh and myself,' whowere. present;'.and;we of course regretted:that,we coultl. , not' have aT. meeting, and sympathised, with the officials and tho unfortunate pressmen" brought, out on a wet night needlessly, .but wo also.fail to see that the arrangements for meetings can be bettered in any way, and wonld suggest that there is nothing ''delightfully indefinite"-in". a statutory ' monthly meeting any more than there is in the fact of the elements being llnprppitious enough to drench to the skin tho "unfortunate pressmen" when out looking for "copy."—l am, 'etc., '' '•''.
