Some interesting statistics concerning the number of hens,and tho production of eggs in ihe different countries of, the world 'have just beon given: ' Hens in Eggs in i - '', millions, tons. ' United States 233 862,540 / Germany 55 270,000 - ' Franco 50 300,000 • England 25 120,000 Denmark 11 55,000 Belgium I. 6 30,000 ,' Ort an averago 10 eggs can be reckoned to a pound. As can be seen from this tablo, ' tho French hens seem to do better than those of any other country. Great Britain imported in 1907 more than 129,000 tons of egg 3, which were furnished by tho -following countries:—Russia, 110,880,000 pounds;" Denmark, 56,320,000; Belgium, 36,872,000; . Germany, 42,460,000; Franco, 18,480,000; ' Canada, 1,760,000; and other countries, 17,490,000. Tho consumption of eggs by each person by the year has beon estimated as follows:—Germany, 1 127 eggs: France, 118; England, 97; Belgium, 94 f and Holland, 91.—''Science Siftings."
