Tea in Boulcott Street. ' A great many guosts were present at .a delightful tea given yesterday afternoon by Mrs. Walter ijlislop at her home in Boulcott 'Street. The drawing-room was decorated with spring flowers of various sorts, some very lino crimson rhododendrons on tho mantelpiece attracting groat admiration, and the tea table was decorated with spring bulbs and birch leaves.. A string band iras stationed on the landing, and played. throughout tho afternoon. . Mrs. Hislop received in a frock of palo grey silk colienno, with vest of tucked chiffon and" trimming of small black buttons! Mrs. Shand camo in a dark blue frock, with dark blue silk coat,- and wide hat to match; Miss Hislop wore a frock of grey ninon, with yoke of heavy white laco, finished with black silk fringe, and busby hat of blue straw; Mrs. Mnnro, who took charge of the coffee table, wore a brown striped costumo with cream vest, and wide hat-to match; Miss Barron, who wore a cream silk blouse , and cream skirt, and Miss Dorothy Pollen, who wore a coat and skirt of cream serge and brown hat with shaded roses, were in chargo of the tea table. Among tho many guests present were Mrs. Findlay, in black coat and skirt, \and black plume'd hat; Mrs. Wallis, dark violet costume, with grey hat; Mrs. Martin, costume of cornflower blue, with Oriental cmbroidery, whito furs, and blue hat; Mrs. Herbert, pale lilac ninon costume, with , rosoi wreathed ' hat; Mrs. Bowerbank,i brown striped costume, and wine-coloured hat with roses; Miss M'Lean, saxc blue cloth costume, and blue hat trimmed with copper-brown silk and black feathers; Mrs. Matthew Holmes, pale blue cloth costume, braided, with whito blouse, pale grey hat trimmed with roses, and whito furs: Mrs. H. Nathan, costume of crushed strawberry cloth, with white furs, and hat to match trimmed with dahlias; Mrs. Elliott, whito cloth; Miss Miles, dark green coat and skirt, and turbanshaped hat trimmed with steel embroidery and quills; Mrs. G. Leckie. < Cinderella Danco at Hutt, Quito a number of guests went out i from town last night to the tiinderella danco wbicb I was given 'in tho .Town Hall at Hutt. The I train journey out thero and back is a delightful part of tho evening's entertainment to most of the townsfolk who go, tho liveliest conversations are carried on, and from the different seats little odd scraps of conversation are heard mingling in tho queerest way. Arrived at the station, there is a rush for tho buses, and, when there is rivalry between the drivers, thero is a sort of lumbering race along the black road, where tho water lies •'in' wide pools,-, and tho short distance to the hall is covered in very good time. The rain, held off. long enough last night to let the people reach tho hall without inconvenience, and there were, if anything, even moro visitors'than on the previous occasion. It was a very successiul and enjoyable danco, and tho hall looked well with its decorations of foliage. The stage was comfortably arranged and furnished, and tho front of it decorated with variegated foliage, and a quantity of very early wattle-blossom. The supperi tables in a room upstairs were with spring , flowers, yellow and white narcissi, snowdrops, grasses and violets, with some very dark largo irises, to give emphasis 'to. the scheme .of colour. The members-of the committee—Misses F. M. Foster, M. Hayward, M. Humfrey, ,L. Lee, E. Matthews, and M. K. Wilson, with Mr. H. Fulton, who acted as secretary—had made very successful arrangements for tho pleasuro of thoir guests. Among thoso present were: Mrs. Y. Hayward, in black silk; Mrs. Barraud, black silk with jet and silver trimming; Mrs. J. Rose, ombroidered chiffon over yoffow taffetas; Mrs. A. Harris, white ninon , with gold sequined trimming, and tho bodice'wreathed with tiny pink rosebuds Mrs. Mirams. black silk; Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Treadwell, Miss Jacobsen, in eau-de-nil satin charmeuse; Miss Parsons, whito laco; Miss Matthews, ivory satin with white scarf and breast-knot of violets; Miss Hayward, palo green flowered chino silk with bands of darker green; Miss L. Leo, palo pink silk; Miss Buckhurst, palo pink silk; Miss M. Humfrey, whito satin; Miss R. Humfrey, black and white sprigged silk with whito lace; Miss D. Euchre P arty at' the H otol W Indscr. A progressive euchro party was held at the i Hotel W indsor last night, at which over a hundred and fifty guests were present. The ! proceeds are to go to St. Gerard's Monastry. The arrangements for the party were in the i hands of a committee, consisting of Misses F Gujse. C.-Fama, and M. Webb, with Mr. iA. Amodeo, hon. secretary. The first prizo for ladies was won by Mrs. Burton, and the ■ gentleman's-prizo by Mr. Robinson, while the "booby" prizes went to Mr. Trendevillo 1 and Miss O'Malley. Miss M. S. Thomas, of Feilding, leaves for Sjdney to-day to pick up the Mantua for London. Miss Mirams arrived from .Dunedin yesterday, and she is staying -with Dr. Mirams at Hutt. Mrs. H. B. Mason is giving a fancy dress dance at her private hall in Glmznee Street next Monday; ' Mrs. Walter Nathan, with Miss Sybil and Miss W. Zaidee Nathan leave to-day for a trip to Sydney. The Wellington Golf Club Ladies' Championship will commence on Monday, July 26, not on Saturday, July 24. Tho Kelburne Ladies' Bowling Club has issued invitations for a plain and fancy dress danco in tho Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street, on August 13. A wedding took place at tho residence of Mr. S. M'Lennan, Queen Street, Levin, on Wednesday, when Mr. A. E. Jeffries, Bunnythorpe, was married to Miss Rose Eva M'Lennan. The Rev. J. White officiated.
