KINGS WHO SET FASHIONS.
When kings, net now fashions what,shall I bumblor folk do? King Edward has been I setting the fasluons for men for the past ' forty years, even to leaving the lowsr waist- ' coat button unbuttoned and putting 'a gold • sloeve-link' into tho top buttonhole of his frock coat. And now comes the King of Sweden—who is quite an important personage —changing - his evening dress from the ordinary black to a scarlet coat. And before long we shall sco if tho men of Europe follow tho royal example and mako their tailor happy with orders for scarlet evening coats .Let not women folk imagine for a moment that only the gentler sex have a passion for fashion. Mon have it also. Tho newest idea is to Dave a hat—men wear hats—one for every , day m tno week. Tho argument is this- Men change their collars and their neckties orery day. Why not their hata? And there is now- prescribed a seven-day chromatic display. The Monday , at , according to this new fashion, is dull purple Tuesdays hat is dull greoD. Wednesday's bat is blue. On Thursday one i, duo to indulge in light brown, ■ and on Friday you chango to'dark brown if you want to be to tho manner born. You close the week on Saturday with a calm . colour m slate, and on Sunday you affect tho top hat, the badge of tho well-dressed man.
