Adamson; Glasgow, hat' been elected the new chairman of tho.Congregational Union of Scotland, in succession to the Rev. Alfred Gardner, Dundee. Dr. Adamson, who was. born in New Galloway in 1830, was ordaindd, at Perth' in 1857, and from 1868 to 1896 was pastor of the Buoclcuch Evangelical. Union Church in' Edinburgh. On resigning his' charge in the capi- ' tal ho had the".largest membership of'any : . local chnrch in that denomination. Dr. Adamson waß induced some' months later to accept tho pastorate of tho' Carver' Memorial Church at Windermere, and there heromained till he. completed • his jubilee.
