HER POWERS OF DIVINATION.
'■ It is stated (says an Auckland paper) that a lady resident.of.Whangarei, who has power of discovering underground water by divination, has also found that sho possesses oho mysterious power of-locating,coal seams. .In searching for water sho'was puzzled by having a strong contrary attraction. On one occasion, when in a building at,.Whangarei, under which, a considerable quantity of coal was stored, sho felt'almost an irresistible inclin?.tion,.aiid in making further investigation as to tho cause, found the existence of coal. Sho has since tested tho matter in' , various ways, and. found the attraction was in-, •variably due to the nxistenco of coal. Sinco then it is;stated that the lady has. dono a good deal to assist in Iccating coal deposits in Whangarei, and in iiroventing useless boring in unfavourable positions.". It is stated locally that,-if . further investigations aro satisfactory, the lady's services will bo reqiiisitionod to locate a coal seam in Northern •Wairoa,'- of tho Existence of which ovidenco has already been-secured.
