FOUR-WEEKLY RETURNS. In his four-weekly report to the Tramway and Power Station Committee of the City Counoil, Mr. Stuart Richardson, city electrical engineer, states that the total revenue amounted to ,£10,737, an increase of .£35, ,19 compared with . tho corresponding period of last year. The working expenses amounted to JC.7177, .or .£146 mors than last year, accounted for by the increasing repairs and renewals, which are not charged against depreciation. The standing charges have increased by £90, duo to the inclusion of the public track arc lightingprovision being now made for depreciation, which has not hitherto been charged in.the district fund account. After providing for estimated interest, sinking fund, and depreciation charges, amounting in all to £3101, the net surplus on the four weeks' working amounts to £155, as compared with £681 last year. Electric Llghtlngi ' _ The total,' revenue of the Electric Lighting Department for April amounted to JG4043, an increase of »E29i as compared with the corresponding period of: last year. The working expenses amounted to .62224, or JE26S more than last year, accounted' for principally by ■ the fact that many charges were formerly capitalisfd, which are now charged against revenue. After/providing for estimated interest, sinking fund; and depreciation charges, amounting in all to £1459, the result-is a net surplus on the month's; working of £359, as compared with £540; last year. • Tho standing charges are'increased .by-the extra intorest which will be ohargeaUlo on the bank, overdraft, and the inclusion of tho' public , lighting, provision now being made for depreciation, which has, not hitherto been charged in the district fund account.
