A FURTHER GAIN IN WILLIS STREET, DIVERSION OP TRAFFIC PROPOSED. : A special meeting of the City Council was , ' held at 4.30 p.m. yesterday to consider the ? granting of building permits to Mr. H. Brittain (Manners Street) and Messrs. Piko and Bato ■ - (Willis Street)., The question-involved-in tho issue of these ~. „ pormits is^ho. street-widening 1 scheme in the streets mentioned, and the opportunity thus prosented of making a start with the widening , of Manners-Street. . ■ -Mr. Isrittaiii's permit will bo'issuod, and lus property will not bo interfered with.
