The morning papers anil Ministers of the various States advorsely criticise the financial proposals of Mr. Fisher (Federal Prime Minister) as outlined in his speech at Gympie. They declare that the adoption of the proposals would lead the States into financial bankruptcy. [The States in their financial proposals ask that tho amount to be returned to the States in any one year be not less than .£6,750,000. llr. Fisher speaks of guaranteeing the States a fixed premium of .£5,000,000 per annum, the States also to receive surplus revenues.] STATE REVENUE RETURNS. Sydney, April 1. The revenues of the undermentioned States (whoso financial year closes Juno 30) show tho following decreases for tho nine months ended March 31: New South Wales: Tho State revenue docreased by £50,860, and tho returns from the Commonwealth decreased by £471,000. Victoria: Tho State revenue decreased by £199,229, and the returns from tho Commonwealth by £606,951. South Australia: Tho State revciiuo decreased by £123,863.
