CAPE BARLEY FOR SHEEP.
A South Australian farmer says:—"l havo had a small paddock cropped for hay during tho past two years, on which I sowed Capo barley this year, and it has paid mo well, as I H was ab!o to turn owes and lambs in early when feed was short. I bought oat and barley straw, and chaffed and fed it with molasses horses and cows, that I might savo this paddock and give it a start. By putting the ewes on this for two or threo weeks it gave them a cood start, so that I was ablo to sell all the- lambs at Us. per head, ami got thorn away by tho end of September. I had thirty-nino lambs from forty ewes, all full-mouthed thrco years ago when I bought them., .Tho carrying capacity of this paddock was largely duo to tho largo amount of nativo clover that camo up with tho barley."
