Tho death took place recently of Mr. W. Young, at his' residence, St. Leonard's, Berwick. Mr. Young, who was a native of Berwick, was senior partner in tho firm of Messrs. Young and Son, maltsters. Ho was chairman of the Boriyick Salmon Fisheries Company, and was also intimately connected with tho public affairs of tho town generally. For many years he was a member of Berwick Town Council, and on two occasions .was elected Mayor, whilo ho also held tho office of Sheriff for a term._ For a long period ho had represented Berwick on tho County Council of Northumberland. Ho was sixty-six years of ago.
