FRISCO MAIL SERVICE.
MAIL ARRANGEMENTS. - (BT TELEGRAPH —PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) Melbourne, March 25. The Federal Postmaster-General, Mr.' Thomas, has recoived from the London Post Office an intimation that arrangements have been made for a regular mail service via San Francisco, to Papeete, . Wellington, and Sydney. The Mariposa, from San Francisco, will connect with steamers of tho Union Company at Papeete, and bring on the mails to Australia. Owing to the recent irregularity of the service from San Francisco by tho Australian mail line, the new service will be used for correspondence via San Francisco. The mail will be duo in Sydney in from 41 to 45 days after its dispatch from London. [The above message is. belated. The Manapouri has already made two trips from Wellington to Rarotonga and back, under subsidy from the New_ Zealand Government, connecting with the Mariposa at Papeete, and, notwithstanding tho fact that the Federal Post Office has apparently only just received official advice of its existence, it is on record that on the first trip the Manapouri carried 40 baes'of mail from Sydney for San Francisco.]
