FRUIT IMPORT REGULATIONS.
In reference to the question of the Auckland outcry against the enforcement of the trmt-Hy regulations against the Pacific Islands, mentioned in Tub Dominion on Monregulations smeo last season. At first fo that State tho regulations were violently resented and two letters reached this side from tho Premier of New South Wales. But fsydney newspapers now point out that in consequence of these very regulations there Sr'sh + e f m ?e U-V ft L e orchards of tho State that the fruit-fly this season caji scarcely be discovered. They attribute this benent to tho once unpopular New Zeahnd regulations Tho same benefit should Mow m the Pacific Islands, only'the task of eradicating the peat there would be easier because of tho smaller areas to be dealt with.
