(or rcLroitdPn—sritcur, * Dunctlin, March 17.. A representative Dunedinbutcher was shown a telegram from C'hristchurch, and asked how the meat quotations there compared with Dunedin prices. For some time, lie said, prices have been lower hero than in Christchurch, and from to-morrow reductions will come into force which will make the difference greater. The prices will then be;— Mutton: Chops, fld.fqicquarter, 2jd.; legs, JJd.;'shoulders, 3Jd. and -id.; loins, 4Jd. Beef: rump steal;, 7d. (has been 8d.); beef steal;, 5d.; sirloin, fid.; ribs, 5d.; gravy beef, 4d. With the last part pf the telegram stating that ''the trade have been enjoying a very fair measure of prosperity, and that at a time when tliey had to pay very much more for %ir meat than what they pay now," the gentleman spoken to entirely disagreed. "Last season'aAd the season before, I do not think there was a butcher in tlio whole trade who did well," he said. Ho admitted, however, thqt they wcro doing well 1 just now ; , but tlio good' timed, had not continued long enough to recompense them fpr what tl)ey had' lotf.
