Eltham, Dunedin City Ashburton, Greymouth, Wanganui, and Spit (8 l-ssec), dead heat, to run off for third and ' fourth; places to-morrow. ■' The points for the shields being competed for by the brigades at the Fire Brigades' Demon- -,■' etration are—Speight Shield for manual events (completed), Napier, 21 points, 1; Timani, . 15 points, 2; Hawera, li points, 3; Hastings, 8. points, 4; Ashburton and Geraldine, i points each. , Manual Shield.—The following are the leading teams:—Timaru, 23 points; Napier, 21 points; Haweraj 14 points. High- Pressure Shield.—ilasterton are leading with 26 points. Auckland City are second with 17 points, and Fitzroy and Dunedin South equal for third with 1G points each. Tho visiting firo brigades were entertained at 'an excursion to' Motutapu yesterday. An interesting sports ■ programme was gone through. Maiden handicap, 75 yards— L. Ashworth (Napier), 1; R, Ainsley, 2; E. Hayward (Kaiapoi), 3. Relay race, teams of four , men, each man to run ICO yards—WaBganui 1, Hokitika 2.
