At a special general meeting of the Ballanco Dairy Company! held on Thursday morning, a resolution was confirmed altering No. 10 of the articles of association, bo as to read: "The directors may, from time to time; make such regulations and by-laws as they shall think lit for the management of the business of the company, provided the same be not contrary to law or those articles, and in particular the directors may purchase- milk and materials from all, or any, of the shareholders or other persons as they may think fit." In this'disease the hoof, at the toe, is so thick that it causes the heel to contract, quito maiming the horse. A month ago Mr. Philp bad a horse affected with this complaint, and considered the caso hopeless. However, the animal was taken to Mr. Aitchison to treat, and ho devised; a pair'of shoes, which he has patented for this complaint. They consist of a shoo made in two halves, with a joint at the too, and a screwed bar passing through a hole in each heel. By screwing up the nuts on this bar, the shoo is made to expand at the heel. It is put on with a hide sole, to keep; in some softening dressing. Each day the' nuts are screwed up a little, gradually forcing tlie hoof out to its normal shape. The last horse that Mr. .Aitchison. treated was a cripple a month ago, but now is as good as ever it was. ■ Light showers of rain commenced to fall on Thursday.
