KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tiie Karori Borough Council mot Inst night, when there wore present:—The Mayor (Mr. C. L Dascent), Councillors Cathie, Smith, Spiers, Lissington, Bradnock, Wcddo, and Raine. Accounts passed for payment totalled £456. A lotter was received from the Municipal Association stating that there was a movement to establish a joint superannuation fund under the Local Authorities Superannuation Act.' Municipal and county councils and harbour boards would bo included. The question as to whether the council should join ill the scheme was referred to the Finance Committee. Intimation was received from the Minister for Labour to the effect that Wednesday had been decided upon as tho half-holiday for the Karori Borough. The letter was received. A claim for £'130 was received from Messrs. Bell, Gully, Bell, and Jlyers, acting on behalf of Mrs. Cooper. The claim is for land taken fronting one of the borough streets. It was referred to tho borough solicitors, with ill-' striictions to take tho usual proceedings. Tho borough engineer was instructed to prepare an estimate to bo presented to the next meeting, showing tho cost of road metal required for tho forthcoming winter. ' Tho Maknra County Council was granted permission to quarry mct.nl alongside the Makura Hill Road, provided they agree to moot any liability for damage done. • The Mayor stated that he, was not at present prepared to make any recommendation in .regard to applications for the use of tlio recreation ground during the winter. _ Applications have been made by the Karori Football Club and the Wellington Rugby Tmion.
