Tho Wellington Match, at 500 yds., was commenced in a dull, but rather good, light, but with a tricky drift wiud, which called for an ■allowance of.about three degrees. Later, about ialf-past ten, the breeze freshened from ho rear, but kept .fairly steady. The shooting again was generally.of,'a high order, although an exception was Rifleman Milroy, who was leading, with Col.-Sergt. Higgins, for the aggregate. The Nelson champion rung on only 36 points, and he was .passed by Fte. Mackay, of Dunedin, who made the first "possible" of the morning. The Dunedin man started with a "magpie." as his sighting shot, and then' piled .ten consecutive shots well into the bull'seye., Pte. W. Jackson, Linwood Rifles, was the second'marksman to achieve a similar honour, and then followed, later, Capt. Potter, Auckland, and Pte. Fisher, .Wellington,' and Rifleman Halliday, Karon, each with the coveted ten bull's-eyes. . Amongst 1 those who made 49's in the first stages of the match were Pte.
