LIBERAL LABOUR FEDERATION.
At last night's meeting of the 'LiberalLabour Federation Mr. M. O'Kane delivered an address on municipal politics. - For the purpose of : illustrating -tho' functions, good points, and : defects of New Zealand municipal politics, tho lecturer traced tho development of municipal government from the ': Kbman method of. extreme centralisation down to the ; present time. He deplored the desire of the local City 'Council' to centralise beyond its power of execution. He' also condemned the sentimental outcry for municipal markets and workers dwellings, as outside the legitimate functionsiof a.municipality. : ;At the conclusion tho lecturer was accorded ahearty voto of thanks. *r
