, Sir, —Wil you'kindly allow me to appeal, through your pages, to your readers, on behalf, of the clergy of the Melanesian Mission? At this time every year I ask for. help towards providing for them certain comforts (almost necessaries) when they are on board the Southern Cross, and also/ for ■ the ; !ay; workers, many of them women, 1 who live in the'lslands, out of reach, of anything more palatable that, tinned foods.: This'scheme of help is not new, and Wellington people have been welltci the front iii helping: it. along eao.l .'year,."so.' lam hoping, for ;>as. liberal a response to this as I have had in past.'yeafs. It. more convenient to the their donations may: bo sent,to Miss M..K. Mestayer, "Sunny Bank,", Sydney. Street, Wellington, who has 'been my most kind and .capable l helper in this undertaking almost from its commencement.. . Any sums of. money entrusted, to her or to. myself will be. spent on predigested beef, , chocolate,'.'biscuits,, raisins; .lime juice,. concentrated foods,:etc:',. also.upon, bandages, and simple remedies in daily demand in the Islands.
