• The. competition for the, water polo banner was advanced another stage yesterday evolving, when; Thorndon and - Wellington met. ,at To Aro Baths. Tho match resulted in a fairly.-casv win for Thorndon, by 3 goals to .l. .'l'he winners had all the' best of tlie first spell, and did all their, scoring in this .terpi, Healy. shooting two goals and M'Leod one, .Wellington/.-who were playing one man short, improved; in the second .spell, and Bridgo put one. goal to : their credit, ' . .The toams wereThorndon: R. Healy, TV Roberts, M'Leod; Macdonaldj Pownall, Wigigins, and M'Kellar. : Bridge, Kelly, Somervillo, Blick, Morpeth, j and, Wilson. .'. - . Healy was the pick of tho Thorndon team, and Roberts also played, a good game, more particularly; in the first spell, whilst Pownall also did .well. Bridge was the bright and' particular star on the Wellington, side, giving a capital all-round display, 'He" was well supported by Kelly and Morpeth..
