THE COMING MUNICIPAL-;ELECTIONS. A meeting of',the Laboiir-.Representation Committee;of the Trades..,and-.Labour Council was held- last .nightj 'whe.ii Hindmarsh presided over a ;,fair attendance. ■' The report -'on; the Parliamentary ■ elections showed that there' was a , small credit balance in hand, after all expenses ;had been' paid. It was'Qecided to.contest.'the';coming, m'unicipal elictions in ' the . Labour ~ interest; .'■ and with this object .the. secretary was instructed : to circularise every-union in the city in order te Obtain united, action.'.; 'A'bonus of £4 4s. was voted to ■ the secretary for past services. ; Mr. Hindmarsh resigned the chairmanship, and. Mr. A. Parlane was 'appointed in his stead, with Mr. W. : H. Hampton vice-presi-dent. A sub-committee was also appointed to draw up rules 'and constitution in order to make the committee permanent. ' • Fraternal greetings from: the independent political! Labour leagues :of .Australia were presented by Mr. Dv. M'Lafen, M:P., who also outlined their methods' of working. The comniittee decided -to adopt" Wes'e methods. Mr. M'Laren mentioned .that great surprise was .expressed in Australia''at th'e fact thatin a; democratic "country like New Zealand they had not greater Labour .representation. .
