The Devonport: Handicap at the Takapuna Jockey Club-s meeting was appropriately named, as it was 'won by Devonport. : ':;
/.Statistics 'in. connection with the past: racing season/in England show that Bruce Lowe's No. (2) family won more money in stakes than ally other family, while the No. (1) family comes second on the list, and the No. 3 third. ; ;/*' ; **\ *-.. •. \v ; */* -".•■ *.*': ; Ben Joiuion, who won the hurdle race at the .*• Takapuna. meeting yesterday;■ onlystarted on four, occasions last season, his solitary win being* in the Jumpers' Flat Race at the; Grand National.meeting.' . -.'.-.- ; ; The St.; Clements mare. Tiptoe is,doing good work on the tracks at Hawera, and in a six-furlong gallop early in the week he easily defeated the Foxton Cup winner, White Star. **.'.-■ '
Soult has another, first-class record: in connection with the Takapuna • fixture, for some of his representatives won on each o'f the three days. The.stakes .given away, by the Takapuna Jockey Club are only moderately large, and for that .reason Soult will, not receive an extra big lift in the winning sires' list, but ■ he gets another first-class advertisement as to the number of winners he sires.-
