was found by night without lawful excuse in an'enclosed yard at Clyde Quay, the property of the Wellington City Council. 1 Statiou-Sergeant Darby stated that this was the second time that accused had. been found in tho yard, in question. He was put out once, and warned not to come back. The yard T\as locked up, and accused climbed over the i fenco. Only tho previous day he had been convicted and discharged for insobriety. Ho was a strong, able-bodied man, but apparently made no attempt to get work. Accused sajd that he had been working at Aro Baths, and pleaded for another chance. A sentence of seven days' imprisonment was imposed, A RAMBLING STORY. Ada Lister, alias Leister, alias Emily O ( Hagan,_was charged (1) with, insobriety, and (2-) with wilfully damaging four panes of glass_ valued at 205., the pioperty of Gco. ■■Harris. Accused told a rambling story in which she made some vague reference to someone having pulled her teeth out and struck her, and that two men had got £7 10s.' for laying another man otit. Station-Sergeant' Darby stated that 'accused, went to Jlr. Harris's' house in Ebor Street when she was under tho influence of liquor and deliberately broke the windows. She was only just ont of prison after serving seven days' imprisonment for a similar offence. " On the first charge a conviction and fine of 205., in default 48 hours' imprisonment, was imposed, and on the second charge a sentence of two months ,, imprisonment was entered. TWO FOREIGNERS AND A HORSE COVER.

' A fisherman named Matthew Babich pleaded not guilty to a charge of having, on or,about May 25, at Wellington, committed theft of a horse cover, valued at J 20s", the property of AngeJo George Evidence showed that the cover had been picked up by Babich on'the Island Bay Road. The Bench-hold that defendant picked it up, but did not steal it.' -The matter was' a littte bit of a tribal difference between two .foreigners, and-the information would be dismissed. An order was made that the cover bo returned to tho owner, Mr. P. TV. Jackson appeared foi thf> defence.
