SUPREME COURT. 1IS T BANKRUPTCY. MERCHANT ADJUDGED BANKRUPT. Bitting'in Bankruptcy yesterday in, tho absence of a Judge' of tho Supromo Court, Mr. D.-G. A. Cooper (Registrar of the Court) heard a petition to havo Thomas William Arthur Stringer, storekeeper, Wellington, adjudged a bankrupt. - Iho petition (in support of which Mr. M. Myers appeared) set forth that Stringer was indebted to W. and G. Turnbull and Co. in the Biira of £168 15s. lOd.'for; goods sold and deJivored, and to A. S. Paterson and Co. for £167 18s. od. for goods 'sold and moneys advanced. Debtor had (it was alleged) committed an available act of bankruptcy, in that ho had on December 23 departed from his placo of business and rcsidenco in 'Wellington, and had so remained away with intent thereby to defeat aTi3 delay his creditors. Petitioners had no security for their debts, but A. S, Paterson and Co. held (in respect of £80 of their debt) endorsed promissory notes. An or,der was made adjudging debtor a bankrupt. ■
