The Union Company's training ship Dartford was to. bo taken off the Patent Slip at "Wellington to-day, and in a few'-weeks-"she will have the necessary accommodation fitted, anil will bo ready for her first batch of cadets. Tho names and addresses of the first dozen nominated aro now available. ' Tliey will' be required to join tho Dartford in "Wellington in about three weeks. The nominees are:—o. S. Wilson and E. A. Peters (Dunedin); G. V. Jenkins (Green Island); i W. Whitefield (Waitaka Valley); J. A; Bunting(St. Albaus); A. G. M. Christio (Ashburton); C. F. Carey (Christchurch); R. H. Baigent (Wellington); N. B. Haszard, 11. M. Wright, E. J. M'Lellan (Auckland); and A. T. Adam Lilydale (Victoria). The alterations' to the Dartford- having been complete], she will sail for Kaipara and load timbor at'Aoroa Mills' for Melbourne. First-year cadets will receive £3, second £G, third £9, and fourth £12. The premium is £50, and all or portion of it will bo forfeited if cadet deserts or fails, to carry out tho terms of his indenture, or is withdrawn for insufficient reason. Ten days a year will be allowed for holidays, when possibly a free saloon pass boing given to tho cadet's homo port. TJtiiforms (to bo supplied by parents) must bo worn oil board, as regulations require, and when on leave. Term of service is four years. '. ( ■ .
