A'Court, and ,C. J. Canton. • APPLICATIONS FOR LAND.' The following applications for land were approved on the usual conditions:—Titles: 200 acres, Tiriraukawn district, W. A. Weekes; 196 acres, Hautapu, F. Bamford; 200 acres, Mnkuri, J. Holland. Sublease: 200 acres, Tararua, from W. Mason to W. S. Geangc. Conversion: 10 acres, Makuri, L. Hoyden. ■ TRANSFERS, The following transfers were approved:— 200 acres, Tiriraukawa, from A. llancock tp 0. E. Ferine; 200 acres,. Tirjraukawa, from J. Hancock tq C. E, Fernie; 10 acres, Rakaiinui V.S., from estate of J. Dixon to G. Wliittaker', junr.; 29 acres, Rakaunui, -from estate of J. Dixon to G. Wliittaker. junr,; 10 spies,-Torere V.S., from C. The following were approved, subject to usual conditiong_qnd report of ranger being satisfactory: —445 acres, Tiriraukawa, from H. J. Cauton to S, Parsons; 150 a'pres, Tirjraukawa, from li, and H. J. Canton to S. Parsons and H. J. Canton; 200 acres, Tirjraukawa, from Ij. Canton to E. E. Parsons. Mr. ,li. E. yokez, licensee of Section 4, Block i?f, Kaitieke, 412 acres, applied to transfer to Miss E. M. FJoyd, It was resolved to waive residence up to date, and approve of the transfer on the usual conditions, and subject to the residence of the incoming tenant upon tlio laud within three mojiths time. With . reference to tlio proposed transfer ,°r Section .15, Block ii, Maungakarotu,. 199 acres Airs. Mary O'Connor (nee MalieiO applied to transfer the .section to herself, 'fjie Commissioner pointed out that this section was one of the Raketapauma. Improved Settlement. .Transfer approved.^ Mr. H. T. Foster, lessee of Section 10, ißlock in, Ileretaunga Settlement, 14.7 perches, wrote stating, that ho w»s vacstina the .cottage at the end of the month owing to his wife s ill-health, and asked whether under the circumstances he would be allowed .to transfer his interest- in the section to an eligible tena.nt. It was resolved to approve of the transfer. ■ Mr. M. Hughes applied to transfer sections 16, 1(, 18, ancl 19, Rakaunui V,S containing 42 acres, to Mr. R. E. Robertson, on . .lessee $f the adjoining sectjons,29 and 29a, m the Mangatiti Improved Farm, containing 152 acres. His wife also held Declined • Puketoi, of 200 acres', Mr. R. Bowie, lessee of sections 7 and 7ay: Block v., Mt.:Cerberus, applied to be alloweii' to cut out about 2 acres from each section as school sites, to be transferred to the Wei-' Imgton Education Board. ' The ' Education Board wrote stating that it desired to'obtain the freehold of the sites, after the' transfers had been effected. The board resolved to grant the request, and leave- the matter in tho commissioner's hands for. completion. Mi. M R : Smith, lessee of Section IS.P,ier Settlement;, wrote asking if Mrs. Smith would be allowed to obtain a section nearer partmborougli owing to her delicate state of healtfi. Smith applied for a license to occupy Section 4, Pakihikura Village, lr. ISp., from year to year 'under; Section. 130 of. tjio Land Act,. 1908. . Application, apProved at an annual rent ,of os., and subject to, the license being determined at three months' notice.
Mr, James Georgetti wrote applying for a lease of Section 31, Block x, Hautapu State I'orest, for a term, of 21 years, It was resolved that as the land was a. State Forest Reserve, and contained fine timber, jt was not adyisablo to .lease it,: as'the forest should be carefully preserved. 1 Messrs. J. and A. McDonald, gave notice of intention to purchase the feo simple of sections in Pongaroa V.S., and tho board appointed Mr. J. B, F. Sutherland as appraiser to make the valuation. ; Tho board approved the proposals of Masterton County Council for the expenditure of £766 3s. 3d., thirds accrued to April 30; REPORTS. Messrs. G. Waterston, jun., and R. B. Sayer applied for rights to. graze on Totara flat. The rangor had reported that'about 150 acres were capable of carrying about 100 sheep all the year round. Granted. ' The board'granted Mr. James Ferguson a six months' extension of his lease of Wadr dington Settlement, on condition that he eradicate the gorse on the. settlement.
\ The ranger reported that the whole of-the pettlers of Langdalo Settlement had complied with their improvement conditions, and that only two were defaulters as to residence. The holdings inspected wore, 27; lessees required to reside, 25; number residing, 23; improvements .effected. £14,082; improvements required, £6599; surplus improvements £7483. ■ The board considered the • report very satisfactory. "
The board approved of four suburban lots in Ninia Township and 28 sections in Pirialta Township being offered for cash by public auction; and approved of sections in the Ruatiti Block being offered on the optional systems, the land to be classed aa "-heavy' bush'! land, with exemption from rates and rent for four years. It was further decided to approve of offering the under-mentioned Crown. lands to-the adjoining owners :-r-4.2 polos, City of Wellington, adjoining owner Mrs. M. A. Williams; 1:1 pole, City of Wellington, adjoining owner, W. Tonks; and other, areas at Port Nicholson.
