ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. [BY TELEGUAPH.—SPECIAL COttnESI'ONDENT.J Marton, October 27. A fatal motor car accident occurred on tho Bulls-Sandon Road last evening, resulting in the death of Mr. L. .Worthington, a wellknown insurance agent in Rangitikei.' Tho car was owned and driven by Mr. Lynn M'Kolvio. He went to Feilding in company with deceasod, and was returning homo in the evening,, when the accident took place. They arrived at Sandon about seven o'clock, and left again at 7.15. After goiug about a milo the car left the crown of the road and struck a culvert. The impact threw Mr. Worthington out and his neck was broken. Mr. M'Kelvie, though not, hurt, is in great, distress, and is suffering from shock. The lato Mr. Worthington leaves a widow and family of three young children. Deceased lias been living at Bulla for about two years, and formerly was a resident of Marton. An inquest was opened to-day at Bulls, beforo tho District Coroner, Mr. J. J. M'Donald, and a jury. Sergeant Bowdtn, of Feilding, appeared for the police, and Mr. Innes, of Palmerston North, for 51 r. M'Kelvie. After tho evidence of the post mortem 'examination had been taken, an adjournment was applied for and granted till, Monday. (ur TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) OLD MAN'S SUDDEN DEATH. Waipawa, October 27. Mr. W. H. Small, an old settler, dropped dead tiiis morning at his property, near ivaikora, aged 73. A BABY'S DEATH. Nelson, October 27. At an inquest regarding the death of the 18 months' old boy named Douglas Linos, who was killed at Waiiti yesterday, a verdict was returned that deatli was caused by a kick from a horse, no blame being attachable to anyone.
