The Collector of Customs has been advised that a life-buoy marked "Loch Lomond" has drifted ashore five miles south of tho South Head, Hokianga. It is in a good state of preservation, but the life-lines have, been broken short off. [The Union Company' Bbarque Loch Lomond was bound from Newcastle to Lyttelton with a cargo of coal. She left on July 15, and has not been heard of since, and although many reports have appeared about wreckage being found this is the, only piece of wreckage discovered which can be identified as having belonged to the missing barque.] OTAGO SHEARERS DISSATISFIED. The secretary of the Canterbury Shearers' Union telegraphed to the secretary of the Otago Employers' Association as follows:— "There will be trouble if Otago will not accept the Canterbury shearers' award. An alleged "two-up" school near Hornby was raided yesterday afternoon by Constable O'Brien, who took several names.
