SOCIAL REFORMS. (BT IELEGRJLrn. —SrECIH COBSESPOSOSNT.J ... Christchuroli, October 24. Mr. John Studholme, referring, at the Diocesan Synod, to the discussion upon social reform by the Pan-Anglican Congress, said, although the existence of many evils was fully admitted and generally deplored, very few practical suggestions for the amelioration of the conditions noted were made by the English delegates. The most effectivo proposals, perhaps came -from • Canada,. reports being furnished relating among otner mattors to prohibition; which by t-ho way was not favourably reported upon. Mr. W. G. Brittain quoted at tho synod yesterday from a speech delivered by Mr? G.K. Chesterton at tho Pan-Anglican. ."Con-, gross, in reply to tho somewhat..chimerical and inconsequential proposition, of! another" spcakor in reference to social reform.' -Mr. Chesterton summed up tho position - thus "The plumber is uhablo to find anything wrong with tho inside of our piano," therefore^ my wife must truly love me.".
