FOOT RACES.
AMATEUR CROSS-COUNTRY CUP. A couple of races were run at Miramar on Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club. Results were as follow: — Four-mile Cross Country.—H. Tempest (IgOsec.) 1, H. T. Thompson (135 sec.) 2, C. Lamberg (135 sec.) 3. Also started: W. Press (scr.), F. Hilton (scr.), W. B. "Bennett (25sec.), A. J. Williams (90sec.), P. W. Dement (lOOsec.), L. W. Cozens (llOsec.), J. Finn (120 sec.), T. C. Patterson (160 sec.), P. Wiltou (lfiSsec.), H. Roberts (180scc.). Won easily... Thompson, being the first Wellington competitor to reach the winning post, receives, the amateur cross-country cup, presented by Mr. L. H. Tripp. Timo not taken. 100 Yards Sprint—First heat: A. C. iJohnson (9yds), 1; W. F. Dunn (Byds), 2; W. 11. :Pollock (Byds), 3. Also started: C. L. Turnbull (oyds), D. Casey (7yds), G. Pike' (Oyds). Time, lOsec. Second heat: J. F. Wilson (9yds), 1; 11. E.
