THE. CARE OF FROCKS.

We were staying not long ago with a recent bride, who had a very beautiful troussoau (says a writer in tho ''Queen ), and yet whenever she put a fresh dress on it looked half worn ■ out and spoilt. ' Bolore her marriage she had been' accustomed to the'devoted ministrations of a maid, but this sbo had now and, having very little experience, had no idea how to take care •of her dresses and slipw them'oft to the best- advantage. She fully realised: tho :fact of the harm that had been done, a,nd followed our advice. We made her set aside a long wardrobe for the skirts, .and insisted on her purchasing a rango of coat-hangers; the skirts all being supplied with lcops at the waist,-the hangers were easily set inside them. By the purchase of many-yards of calico cf a light make she was ablo to. have a series of bags on draw-strings long enough to.cover the dresses, the hook of .the hanger pieTcing through'the top. Thus the .gowns fell in easy folds, and were protected from dust. Tho bodices were stowed awa} in large drawers in placo -01-.tho wardrobe, 1 each -sleeve filled with tissue paper, .with a • good-deal of paper in the middle which kept ihe-bodice< : ih .shape. Oneidriiwor was dc-. vottd to evening and one to morning dresses,' arid where the bodices and skirts were at-i tached the bodies were stuffed out with paper in the same way, and placed m the covering bag. A very 'few.pence will buy plenty of silver paper, and it is not toe much to say that its liberal use conduces to a lengthened life of gowns, not easily calculated. Nothing is so dowdy as dresses which show they hare not been properly taken care of.
